MoE Calendar for School Sporting Activities Finally Out

The 2022 Kenya School Games Calendar Announced by MoE
School games are returning after a two-year absence.

Covid 19 pandemic in Kenya forced the cancellation of the games in March 2020.

2022 school sports schedule for all schools has officially been made public by the Ministry of Education, thus the suspense is over.

In public schools, co-curricular activities play a significant role in the teaching and learning process.

Through these pre-planned exercises, learner abilities are discovered, encouraged, and developed.

Going by statement made public by Dr. Jean, permanent secretary of state for the department of early learning, states:

Education has now agreed that co-curricular activities will be resumed in all basic learning institutions after consulting with important stakeholders. Sports and music programs for elementary and secondary schools will begin in the second semester of 2022. 2023 will see the Kenya Science and Engineering Fair and Drama Competitions.

In order to prepare for the National Championship as well as other regional and worldwide tournaments, schools are urged to start team training.

The best periods for activities are on the weekends, during midterms, and during school breaks.

This comes after an earlier this year organized gathering of stakeholders. A four-day caucus held by representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) resulted in the decision to resume competition.

As per to the calendar, the subcounty and counties must complete their term one games by June 14, 2022.
