No More Loans For Teachers as TSC Takes a Move

TSC has introduced a watertight process to make sure only real teachers get loans.

In a Circular to all teachers on the validation of the TPAY data system for teachers, the Chief Executive Officer of the commission Dr. Macharia argues that once a teacher’s mobile number has been verified and acquired in the data system, it cannot be changed and it must be used when applying for and approving the loan.

Teachers will be required to log into the TPAY system via the payslip page on the TSC website where they must enter and verify mobile numbers. After entering their number and sending the One Time Password to their phones, they will enter the password to validate the mobile number by clicking on the validation tab for verification.

The valid Code will be accepted and used to verify the number which cannot be changed. The number will then be used in any loan application and approval process.

Additionally, the Teacher Service Board wants to prevent non-compliant teachers from accessing online payslips, third-party transactions, and P9 forms if they don’t update their TPAY data. This follows a move by the commission to enter the required data on its TPAY system.

The Teacher Service Commission requires all teachers to update their profile on the TPAY system in order to improve the security of teacher information.

In the move to protect teachers from loan sharks, the commission ensured that in the future teachers must use the OTP code which will be sent to their mobile numbers and emails for verification purposes during the loan application and approval process.

This will help the Commission authenticate teachers in its system and prevent them from falling prey to scammers.

Due to financial constraints, some teachers have made too much effort by acquiring loans from different financial institutions, thus making them unable to meet their obligations.

This prompted them to stress related complications with most affected individuals turning to excessive drinking and drug abuse which led to teachers’ absenteeism.

In the new move, the commission will check all lending, including mobile loans, and protect teachers from excessive lending.
